Tamang Heritage trekking is a recently opened trekking route in Nepal. It provides a mixture of mountain adventure along with Himalayan culture which makes it an exciting trekking package. In this trekking, the trail passes through the traditional Tamang villages where culture, life and way of life haven’t changed since the beginning. In addition to the local cultural experience, the trek also provides a wilderness experience through the amazing landscape, alpine terrain, flat meadows and beautiful rhododendron forests.

Almost throughout the trekking, you can feast your eyes by the spectacular view of various mountains – Ganesh Himal, Langtang Kerung and Langtang Himal Ranges. The visit to the beautiful local Tamang monastery, the view from Nagthali view Point, border of Tibet are other exciting feature of the trek.

The 15 days Tamang Heritage and Langtang Valley Trek start with a bus ride from Kathmandu to Syaphrubesi. The hike starts from Syaphrubesi as we trek upwards towards Gatlang and Tatopani. Furthermore, we trek towards Lama Hotel via Thuman and Briddhim. Another upward trek from Lama Hotel takes you to the famous Kyanjin Gompa where we take a rest day to hike all the way to Tsergo Ri (4983 m). From Kyanjin Gompa we trek back to Syaphrubesi from where you will ride a bus back to Kathmandu.

Day01: Arrival at Kathmandu

Representatives from our office will welcome you at the airport and bring you to your hotel.

Day02: Kathmandu Sightseeing

Early in the morning after the breakfast, representatives from our office will meet you at the hotel and brief you about the trekking. After that you will go for sightseeing around the Kathmandu valley with our tour guide. He will be taking you to four UNESCO world heritage sites – Pashupatinath, Swoyambhunath, Bouddhanath and Patan Durbar Square. Return to the hotel around 5 pm so that you have enough time for preparing your trekking gears.

Day03: Kathmandu to Syaphrubesi (1467 m)

Driving Time: 6 to 7 Hours

Be ready early in the morning. Your trekking guide will come to your hotel and take you to the bus park in a taxi where you will ride a bus to Syaphrubesi. After reaching there if you are interested you can visit local villages and the hydropower plant nearby.

Day04: Syaphrubesi to Gatlang (2238 m)

Walking Time: 5 Hours

Your trek starts from here. We start by following a trail which is gentle uphill from where we can see incredible view of various mountains like Ganesh Himal, Shishapangma, Langtang Lahiru and many others. After that we descend for an hour until we reach Goljang village and continue to hike for around 3 hours more until we reach Gatlang. Gatlang is a small yet beautiful Tamang village located on the hillside with traditional stone houses. Overnight at Gatlang.

Day05: Gatlang to Tatopani (2607 m)

Walking Time: 6 to 7 Hours

Today’s trek starts with a gradual descent to Thangbuchet. After passing the Chilime Hydropwer dam, we follow the uphill trail until we reach Tatopani. Along the way we can enjoy majestic views of various mountain ranges like Ganesh Himal and Langtang Himal ranges. Tatopani means hot water in Nepali owing to the natural hot spring where we will take a dip in it which helps to relax the tired muscles.

Day06: Tatopani to Thuman (2338 m) via Nagthali

Walking Time: 6 Hours

After the breakfast early in the morning, we pass through the dense alpine forest to reach the small Tamang village of Brimdang. After that we follow the gradual uphill trail for a couple of hours till we reach Nagthali. From here we can enjoy the incredible sights of various mountains like Ganesh Himal, Langtang Himal ranges, and some Tibet Himals. From there we trek downhill all the way to Thuman.

Day07: Thuman to Briddim (2345 m)

Walking Time: 6 Hours

Today we pass through lush rhododendron forests and meadows until we reach Briddim. It is a Tibetan influenced Tamang village located on the lap of Langtang Himal. Most of the houses here are made from stones and are inhabited mostly by the Tibetan origin people giving resemblance to the typical Tibet village.

Day08: Briddim to LamaHotel (2560 m)

Walking Time: 6 Hours

After breakfast, we start our trek by following the trail which descends to the Ghopche Khola. Then we follow the trail is uphill to the Lama Hotel via Rimche. Along the way you can see lush green forests and also you can see majestic mountain views.

Day09: Lama Hotel to Langtang Village (3455 m)

Walking Time: 5 to 6 Hours

Today we will be trekking along the bank of Langtang Khola which is a gentle climb through thick forest covered mostly with bamboos, rhododendrons, oaks and Himalayan pine trees. During April and March you will see a colorful forest painted with red, white and yellow wildflowers. Along the way you will see Mt. Langtang Lirung (7250m) - the highest peak in Langtang region. We will stop at GhodaTabela for entry of your trekking permit and continue to Thangshyap for lunch. Now you will see less green vegetations and more thorny plants. You will reach to Langtang village after ascending for 1.5 hours. Langtang village is the biggest primitive settlement in Langtang Valley. You will be able to see local farming lands, mane walls, cheese factory, small hydropower station.

Day10: Langtang Village to Kyanjin Gompa (3870 m)

Walking Time: 4 Hours

Trek gradually uphill alongside of the Langtang river passing alpine lands where you will see sheeps, horses and yaks grazing on pasture. After walking for about 4 hours you will reach to Kyangjing Gompa through the small sherpa village of Yamphu. You will have a heavenly feeling and will forgot all your tiredness after reaching Kyanjing Gompa which is the circumference of the mighty mountains. After lunch, climb to Kyangjin-Ri(4770m) that takes about 2 hours. From here you will see spectacular views of mountains like Langtang Lirung (7250m),Yubra (6264m),Langshisa Ri (6412m), Gang Chhenpo(6378m) .

Day11: Exploration day

Walking Time: 7 Hours

Today is hard and challenging day, so you need to be ready mentally and physically. Wake up before sunrise and start to climb to Tsergo Ri (4983m). The first hour of the trek is quite easy, but after crossing the river, the trail is steep up all the way to top of Tsergo Ri. Along the way you will see panoramic views of mountains, avalanche, creak sound of the glacier and some wildlife like deer and blue sheep. When you are at the top of Tsergo Ri you will see 360 degree panoramic mountain views. At the top very strong wind blows all the time, so do not stay longer on top as you might get altitude sickness. Make a quick picture and have a pack lunch, then descend all the way to Kyanjin Gompa where you will stay overnight.

Day12: Kyanjin Gompa to Lama Hotel

Walking Time: 5 Hours

After breakfast you will follow the same way which is gentle downhill and for most of the trail you need to follow the bank of  theLangtang Khola for a whole day. Take more time and we suggest you to walk very slowly as you will feel dizzy because of less oxygen. Overnight in Lama Hotel.

Day13: Lama Hotel to Syaphrubesi

Walking Time: 5 Hours

Today is the last day of the trekking. After breakfast, we start our trek down to Syabrubensi. Enjoy the easy trail mostly downhill through lush green vegetation until we reach Syaphrubesi.

Day14: Syaphrubesi to Kathmandu

After morning breakfast, we will travel to Kathmandu via local bus. You can travel by private car or van also whose price is not included in our package. After reaching Kathmandu, you can enjoy yourself walking around Thamel or buying presents to your loved ones.

Day15: Departure

End of the memorable trip, we will transfer you to the international airport for final farewell.
