Nar Phu Valley Trek
Nar Phu valley trek is regarded as a very special trekking in Nepal. Nar Phu valley is considered to be remote, amazing and relatively untouched area of Nepal. It is a newly opened trekking route in Nepal in 2003. During the trek there is so much to explore including remote and traditional villages of Nar and Phu, lovely pine forests and rhododendron forests, narrow canyons and rivers, yaks, monasteries and Kang La Pass. Many mountains like Mount Manaslu and Annapurna ranges will provide breath taking view on your way.
Nar Phu valley trek starts from Bhulbhule following the popular trekking route of Annapurna circuit trek and then it branch off from Koto. From here it follows the off the beaten track to Nar Phu valley into the Manang district and pass the Kang La Pass. Here you can see many ancient and traditional villages, snow capped peaks and mountains and meadows. From there you will head towards west passing over the Thorong La Pass then to Jomsom. Finally you will fly to Pokhara from where you will take a bus ride to Kathmandu to complete the awesome trek.

Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu
Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing
Early in the morning, representative from our office will visit you at your hotel and brief you about the trekking. Then after that you will go for sightseeing around Kathmandu valley with our tour guide. He will take you around Pashupatinath, Swoyambhunath, Bouddhanath and Patan Durbar Square. Return early in the afternoon so that you can prepare your trekking gear which starts the following day.
Day 03: Kathmandu to Bhulbhule (840 m)
Driving time: 7 Hours
Wake up early in the morning be ready. Your trekking guide will visit your hotel and take you to the bus station from where you will catch a bus to Bhulbhule. If you want to travel by private jeep or car, we can arrange it for you at an additional cost. The journey is quiet long which takes about 6 hours. Along the way you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of Himalayas, hilly regions, green vegetations and the sight of white water Trishuli River.
Day 04: Bhulbhule to Ghermu (1130 m)
Walking time: 6 Hours
Your trekking starts formally from here. Today you need to follow the bank of Marshyangdi River till Lampata, which is an easy trek where you will pass some local villages, Hydro power project and some local farm land. The trail from Lampata to Bahundanda is steep uphill for around an hour where you will stop for lunch. After resting for a while, you need to descend about 30 m and continue a plain trail to reach Ghermu Phant. Getting there you can see nice and big natural waterfall and a village which is surrounded by hills.
Day 05: Ghermu to Dharapani (1860 m)
Walking time: 7 Hours
Initially you need to descend for about 10 minutes then cross the river and follow the road until you reach Chamche. From there again cross the river and follow the trekking trail which is gradually uphill until Tal Village which is the first town of Manang district laying by the bank of river. After lunch, continue to follow the bank of river which is pretty much flat trail all the way to Dharapani village where you will stay overnight.
Day 06: Dharapani to Koto (2600 m)
Walking time: 5 hours and 30 minutes
Follow the road till Danagyu then you need to ascend for about 2 hours through the uphill trekking trail which provides the good view point for Mount Manaslu and some other peaks nearby. After that continue following the road to Koto where you need to register your special permit for Nar Phu trek where you will stay overnight.
Day 07: Koto to Meta (3560 m)
Walking Time: 6 to 7 Hours
Today you will be leaving Marshyangdi River behind and follow the right hand side trail from police check post. After crossing the river, follow the bank of River Soti Khola, which is uphill all the way to Meta. Along the way you will be passing some thick forests and some streams where you can see some wild life too. Stay overnight at basic hotel.
Day 08: Meta to Phu (4080 m)
Walking time: 6 to 7 hours
Don’t forget to carry your pack lunch for the day before starting the day’s trek. Today the trail follow slightly uphill all the way to our destination. You have to follow the bank of Phu Khola where you will be passing many streams and meadows all the way to Phu. Stay overnight at local hotel.
Day 09: Acclimatization Day
Finally you are in the lost/hidden valley where you can see the cultures, diversity, religion, life styles and monastery of the local ethnic group. You can also see the incredible sight of Him lung Himal and some other snowcapped mountains if the weather is nice.
Day 10: Phu to Nar (4110 m)
Walking time: 6 hours
Today you need to return the same trail you followed earlier till Mahendra Pul. The trail is quite an easy descending trail. After crossing the suspension bridge in Lapehe River you need to go uphill till our destination. Along the way you will come across many stupas and Buddhists monastery.
Day 11: Nar to Kang La Pass (5306 m) then to Nawal (3660 m)
Walking time: 7 to 8 hours
You need to remember that today is a long day hike which might be adventurous for you. You need to follow pretty uphill and rocky trail until you reach Kang La Pass, so you need to be prepared physically and mentally. After reaching the top of the Pass, you will be able to see the Annapurna range. After taking the pictures of the panoramic mountain views, you need to descend downhill which is steeply downhill all the way to Nawal. Keep in your mind that descending trail is quite hard for your knees and also the pebbles on the way make you uncomfortable. Stay overnight at hotel.
Day 12: Nawal to Manang (3540 m)
Walking time: 3 Hours
Today you don’t have to hurry because you have easy and short destination. So take your time and hike down the trail to the bank of Marshyangdi River from where you need to follow the flat trail to Manang. For a whole day, enjoy the mountain view of Annapurna and Tilicho peak. Stay overnight at Manang village.
Day 13: Manang Rest Day
Hike around the Gangapurna Lake and chill out around the Manang village.
Day 14: Manang to Lader (4200 m)
Walking time: 5 hours and 30 minutes
Today the trail goes through Tanki Manang which is the oldest village there and follows gradual uphill until Gunsang which is another good view point of Annapurna range. Rest of the trail is an easy hike until Yak Kharka where you will stop for lunch. After resting for a while, you need to hike for another hour and half until Lader where you will stay overnight.
Day 15: Lader to High camp (4833 m)
Walking time: 5 hours and 30 minutes
The area is bit narrow valley where there are chances of pebbles and rocks falling from both sides. The trail is easy and flat until Thorung Phedi then the rest of the trail is steeply uphill for about an hour and half to High camp. From here you will get panoramic view of snow capped mountains. Stay overnight at hotel.
Day 16: High camp to Thorung La Pass (5416 m) then to Muktinath (3700 m)
Walking time: 8 Hours
Today is another adventurous day for you as you will be 5416 meters high from above sea mean level. The trail follows uphill through moraines and rocky path passing bumpy land where you will see nice and panoramic scenery all the way to top. After 3 and half hours hike you will get to 5416 meters which is the highest point of your trip. After completing taking the pictures from the top, descend steeply downhill all the way to Phedi nearby Muktinath from where the rest of the trail is easy and flat until Muktinath. Stay overnight at hotel.
Day 17: Exploration around Muktinath temple and then hike to Kagbeni (2800 m)
Walking time: 4 Hours
After the breakfast, visit to Muktinath Temple which is a Hindu pilgrimage temple where you can see many pilgrims from all over Nepal and India. Here you can get 108 taps in the form of cow shape and at the front of the temple there are 2 ponds where all the pilgrims take a dive to clean their sin as a popular belief. After returning from the temple, descend to Jharkot from where you will follow the road for a while after which you need to descend downhill again to the trekking trail that leads to Kagbeni. From here you can see barren hillside and the periphery of Kali Gandaki River. Stay overnight at hotel.
Day 18: Kagbeni to Jomsom (2720 m)
Walking time: 3 hours
Today take your time and walk around the Kagbeni village which is the door way to Upper Mustang. Following the valley floor along the bank of Kali Gandaki River, you can see some fossil near the bank named Shaligram. Since the area gets strong wind, the hike is easy all the way to Himalayan Yard – Jomsom where you will stay overnight.
Day19: Jomsom to Pokhara by flight
Wake up early in the morning and after the breakfast head towards the airport from where you will catch a plane to Pokhara. The flight is about 15 minutes. After reaching Pokhara, you can go for sightseeing and enjoy boat ride at Fewa Lake.
Day 20: Pokhara to Kathmandu
Drive back to Kathmandu by tourist bus which is 6/7 hour drive. You can also travel by private car or van at an additional cost. After reaching Kathmandu you can spend your itme buying some gift to your friends and family. Stay overnight at hotel.
Day 21: Departure
End of an exciting vacation at Nepal. We will drop you at the airport for final departure.
