Jomsom Trek

Jomsom trek is part of Annapurna circuit which is gateway to upper mustang. This area has road tracks built  and you can reach to this place by the bus and jeep but there you can follow the shortcut trekking trail. Jomsom is popularised as himlayan yard as it is the U shaped flat land surrounded by hills and mountains. It is also regarded as a pious pilgrimage area by Hindus. It is also called as capital of apples. Jomsom is popular for Thakali culture, tradition and foods, colorful sandy land, above 8 thousander mountains like Dhaulagiri & Annapurana I.

Day 01: Arrival to Kathmandu, Airport Pick up and Drop to your Hotel.

Day 02: Sightseeing around Kathmandu Valley

After the breakfast, representative from our office will visit your hotel where he will brief you about the trekking. Then you will go for a sightseeing around the Kathmandu valley with our tour guide. You will visit Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath, Bouddhanath and Patan Darbar Square. Return around 5 pm so that you can prepare your trekking gears which will start from tomorrow. 

Day 03: Kathmandu To Pokhara

Drive Time: 6 Hours

Get ready early in the morning, around 6:30 your guide will take you to the Tourist Bus Park from where you will catch a bus to Pokhara. You can also take a private car or van, the price of which is excluded in our package. After reaching Pokhara, you can enjoy your time walking at the lake side or even go for boating at the Fewa lake.  

Day o4: Pokhara to Ulleri (2070m)

Walking Hour: 5.5 Hours

After breakfast, you will ride a taxi or private car to the Nayapul with your guide for one and half hour. Then you will follow Modi Khola until Bire Thanti where you need to make entry of your permit. You need to follow the road which is an easy hike until Hile, then a trekking trail until you reach Tikhe Dhunga. After crossing the suspension bridge, the trail follows steeply uphill all the way to Ulleri, from where you can see incredible sight of Annapurna South and Hiunchuli Mountains. 

Day 05: Ulleri to Ghorepani (2750)

Walking Hour: 5 Hours

Today most of the trail goes uphill through the forest all the way to Ghorepani. From beginning you will see nice mountain views & green valley views. The area is covered by Rhododendron tree which is national flower of Nepal. Chances to see some wild life, local farming land, Annapurna range & Magar village as well. When you reach Ghorepani, if the weather is good climb up to Poon Hill where you see nice sunset view.

Day 06: Ghorepani to Tatopani (1190m)

Walking hour: Poon Hill about 1.5 Hours then 5 Hours to Tatopani.

Wake up early in the morning about 1 hour before sun rise then climb up to PoonHill. It is the best view point for the sunrise & sunset from where you can see Dhaulagiri range, Annapurna range, Nilgiri south & Mount Fishtail. After sunrise go back to hotel, finish your breakfast then descend through Rhododendron forest. You will pass open pastures, local villages, farming land, forest like usual then you will reach to the bank of Kaligandaki River. Now you need to follow uphill the Kaligandaki River until Tatopani. Now do not forget to take a bath on Natural hot spring which is good for your muscle pain occurred during the trek.

Day 07: Tatopani to Ghasa (2010m)

Walking hour: 5.5 Hours

Today you need to follow bank of the Kaligandaki River for a whole day which is slightly uphill. This area is called deepest gorge in the world which lies in between Dhaulagiri & Annapurna first. This place is also known as capital of the oranges as well. You will pass local village, farming land, waterfall, deepest gorge in the world, Orange farm, narrow steeply valley & hilly regions.

Day 08: Ghasa to Marpha (2680m)

Walking hour: 7 Hours

Today most of the day you need to follow the road. If you don’t like to hike through the road, you can travel by local bus until Marpha. The trail is pretty flat here, the valley is much wider and windy. Along the way there are lots of pine trees, walnut trees & apple orchards. If you hike rather than ride a bus the view of landscape, local villages and mountains are impressive. When you get Marpha try to visit Monastery & Marpha distillery where you can get apple cider & apple brandy. This village is pretty big fromwhere you can see local traditional mountain houses.

Day 09: Marpha to Kagbeni (2840m)

Walking hour: 5 Hours

We will suggest you to leave early because during the noon time there is more chance of strong wind which makes hike difficult. Today the trail follows the bank of the Kaligandaki River for a whole day. After you get to the Jomsom entry your permit then continue to the valley. Today you will pass many alpine grassy and Sandy land, nice mountain villages, colorful hilly region and see incredible mountain view as well. After reaching Kagbeni try to visit around local village and old monastery. This village looks pretty similar to that of Tibetan tradition. This is a get way to Upper Mustang too.

Day 10: Kagbeni to Muktinath (3800m)

Walking hour: 5 Hours

Leaving the Kaligandaki River behind, follow the southern end of Kagbeni which is steeply uphill. Today the trail follows along side of Jhong Khola which is a windy path. When you get to Jharkot, try to visit Monastery & walk through the village. After reaching Ranipauwa, leave your bag pack to the hotel and continue to Mukthinath Temple. The area is over crowded with local pilgrims & foreign tourists. Inside the main temple, foreigners are not allowed, but you can look around the temple where you will see 108 brass waterspouts, shape of cows tap, pagoda style Temple roof and many people busy in worshipping. After that you can go to Buddhist monastery where you see natural gas flame inside the monastery which comes alongside a spring which is the source of the sacred water. Then proceed back to hotel where you will stay overnight.


Day 11: Muktinath to Jomsom (2720m)

Walking hour: 5 Hours

Today the trail is easy for the most of part until Eklai Bhatti. Close to Eklai Bhatti there is pebbles or rocky trail which is steeply downhill to the bank of the river. Rest of trail is easy and flat. Enjoy your last day of the hike. Along the side of river you can find Saligram, if you have enough time go close to bank of the river search for Saligram fossil which represents the god Vishnu in Hindu religion. When you get to Jomsom, reconfirm your ticket then leave your back pack at the hotel and we suggest you to go to Mustang Eco Museum where you can see floras & faunas which we can get in Mustang district. It is an interesting place for chill out.

Day 12: Fly to Pokhara
Today go on time to the airport and fly back to Pokhara. It should be remembered that the flight depends on the weather, if the weather is good, there will be no problem for the flight, but if the weather is bad,flight will be cancelled and u will get bus or jeep to Pokhara. The road leading to Pokhara is bumpy and it is a long drive to Pokhara, it takes more a less 10 hours. Overnight at Pokhara. If you intend to stay longer in Pokhara you have to arrange it on your own way. 

Day 13: Pokhara to Kathmandu
Wake up early then after breakfast reach to Tourist bus Park around 7 am. From there you will find a bus to Kathmandu. If you prefer travelling by private car or van, you have to pay extra for that as our package dont inlcude that. Overnight at kathmandu. 

Day 14: Departure from Kathmandu
Time for  the final good bye. We will drop you to the international airport by car for the final farewell.
